CORPUS CHRISTI
Each year we celebrate this feast and it is a perennial reminder of what this sacrament should mean to us. Yet today we hear many accounts of children and adults who are not even present for Sunday Mass. Little children will tell us with tears in their eyes that, if their parents do not come to church, they cannot get here on their own.
Do we realize how much we are short changing our children - and ourselves. The Mass is the gift of Christ’s body and blood given for us as a source of strength and spiritual nourishment. If we treat our faith casually, then we betray our baptism and our commitment to Christ.
If this Corpus Christi we are aware of our failures, let’s make a new beginning, it is never too late. It is simply not enough to make First Communion and then not follow through on what it entails.
