Classroom Policies

Tests and Quizzes

*all tests are announced approximately five days prior to exam
*if absent, student should be prepared to take exam upon return to school
*pop quizzes are given, especially in literature
(PENCIL MAY NOT BE USED TO TAKE TEST OR QUIZ)
*each trimester, students will receive a free test grade of 100 in L.A.
points will be deducted as follows:
2 points for missing homework
1 point for incomplete homework assignment
1 point for missing notebook, text, workbook, etc.
5 points for unsigned spiral (SEE 2nd PAGE)
incorporated in this free test grade will be participation - all students
will receive a grade of “-5, -4, -3, -2, -1,+1, +2, +3, +4, or +5 - - this
grade will be added/subtracted from the free test grade at the
conclusion of each trimester
in literature, these points will be applied to the last test of the trimester

Extra Credit

*bonus questions are included on almost every test and quiz

Homework

*will be given four to five times per week
*all written homework must be done neatly on binder paper (unless
otherwise instructed), in ink, and with appropriate heading

IMPORTANT

A GRADE CHART WILL BE KEPT IN THE BACK OF
EACH STUDENT’S SPIRAL. ALL GRADES (TESTS, QUIZZES,
PROJECTS, ETC.) WILL BE RECORDED ON A WEEKLY
BASIS. SPIRALS ARE TO BE SIGNED BY A PARENT
EVERY FRIDAY EVEN IF THERE ARE NO NEW GRADES
(STUDENTS SHOULD AUTOMATICALLY BRING THEIR
SPIRALS HOME ON FRIDAY FOR PARENT SIGNATURE).

ALL STUDENTS WILL RECEIVE A COPY OF THESE POLICIES. IT
IS TO BE SIGNED BY BOTH THE STUDENT AND ONE PARENT. THE
SIGNED COPY WILL BE RETURNED TO ME AND KEPT IN THE STUDENT’S FOLDER.
