Dear Parents~~

What a wonderful fall we are having. The weather is crisp and the leaves are falling. A perfect time of the year!

We had a wonderful time at our Fall Festival. Thank you to all the moms who helped make this day so special. The children loved every part of it! Make sure to check out the photo gallery...

Your children have been busy in Room #8. We completed a Community unit in Social studies which included maps and globes, directions and types of communities. The students loved using their map skills on their treasure hunt in our school. Yes--they found the pirate "booty"!

Our math lessons are under way and the children are doing very well. Please remember to practice their math facts with them often. I will be sending home addition and subtraction flash cards for home use. Please go over these often. The children should not have to figure these out--they need to have these memorized!

We are reading... and reading some more in our classroom! Keep reading the book worm books with your child. As soon as the book is read, sign on their bookworm and return to school. Your child can then get another book from my library. This is a wonderful way to build fluency and increase vocabulary. Plus, the children earn prizes when they finish a bookworm!

Our monthly challenge is underway. This is an optional activity to complete with your child. Most of the children enjoy completing the activities. A great way to share in your child's learning!

We will be having a Halloween party on Friday, October 31st. Your child comes to school in their uniform and will change after lunch. Please, no face makeup or scary masks.

I do try to update this site monthly with pictures and web sites to visit. Please make sure to check back often.

Of course if you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me.
