St. Edward’s 45th Anniversary Celebration & Reunion
November 6, 2006

It was a night to remember!

St. Edward’s 45th Anniversary Celebration & Reunion was attended by more than 200 alumni, faculty (both past and present), parents, families and friends. The evening began with a Mass, concelebrated by Fr. Thomas M. Fusco, pastor of St. Edward the Confessor, Msgr. John M. Martin, and two SEC graduates -- Fr. Gregory Breen (’71) and Fr. Robert Coyle (’78). Deacon Tom Reilly also participated in the Mass. Former principals, Sister Helen Anne Ebbitt, Sister Madeline Moore (formerly Sister Stanislaus) and Sister Margaret Ann Hartigan were joined by current principal Mrs. Anne Schaefer in bringing up the Offertory gifts. Members of SEC’s Class of 2006 also took part in the Mass. Conor Nickel and Elizabeth Vasile served as lectors. Ashley Morris was the cantor. The altar servers were Daniel Vanderhoef and David D’Alauro.

Mass was followed by a festive gathering in the newly renovated gymnasium and Holy Family Room, which is located where the original church had been. (The original church was destroyed in a fire in August, 2000.) A complete list of attendees is available on the Reunion Guest List link.

The spirit of the evening was resounding joy - reminding us all of the important role St. Edward School plays in our parish and in the lives of the faculty, students and their families.

November 25, 2007 -- Celebration of the Sisters of Mercy and Sister Patrice Ward

A very big "thank you" to all of those who helped make the Mass and Reception on November 25, 2007 in "appreciation of the Sisters of Mercy for their contribution to St. Edward School on the occasion of Sister Patrice Ward's retirement" such a special day. More than 250 people were in attendance, including 50 Sisters of Mercy.  Father Thomas M. Fusco, pastor, presented Sister Patrice with the "Spirit of St. Edward Award" at the end of Mass for her extraordinary service to the parish. Sister Patrice served in St. Edward School for 33 years and retired as
Assistant Principal in August, 2007.
Following Mass, a reception and ceremony took place in the gym. Father Tom began the presentation by recognizing all the Sisters of Mercy in attendance. He then introduced those present who had served on the faculty of St. Edward School during its 46-year history: Sr. Anita Boegel, Sr. Helen Anne Ebbitt, Sr. Dorothy Flynn, Sr. Margaret Anne
Hartigan, Sr. Barbara McKenna (formerly Sr. M. Grignion), Sr. Madeline Moore (formerly Sr. M. Stanislaus), Sr. Mary Ann Noonan (formerly Sr. M. Agnes), Sr. Patricia O'Connell (formerly Sr. Columba) and Sr. Patrice Ward.

Two very special gifts were presented at the ceremony. A watercolor print of Catherine McAuley, the founder of the Sisters of Mercy, was dedicated to the Sisters who had served in our school. A new statue of  St. Patrick was dedicated to Sister Patrice. The print and statue will be on permanent display in the school as a reminder of all that these women have contributed to St. Edward's.

The students also presented Sister Patrice with a scrapbook of letters and special memories and performed a special song written in honor of Sister by Mr. Tom DeBrino, the school's music teacher. The ceremony ended with a beautiful video presentation about the Sisters of Mercy and Sister Patrice created by Mr. and Mrs. Don MacAvoy.

As we celebrate our school's 50th Anniversary year, we enjoyed a wonderful day and evening at our Annual Golf Outing. A little rain may have gotten in the way of play, but it did nothing to dampen the spirit of the day! The 2011 Golf Outing honored four outstanding SEC families for their years of service to the school community and commitment to Catholic education: Mrs. Fran Genovese and the family; Mr. and Mrs. John Broderick and family; Mr. and Mrs. Don Nickel and family; and Mr. and Mrs. George Montana and family. The heartfelt and moving speeches given by our alumnae parent honorees were a testament to the enduring gift of our school. Congratulations again to all of our honorees and to Frank and Alicia Vasile for chairing this wonderful event.

On Friday, February 3rd, 2012, St. Edward School celebrated Teacher Appreciation Day. In addition to our current staff, former principals and teachers were invited to attend in celebration of our school's 50th Anniversary. A beautiful mass was said by Fr. Tom followed by a celebratory luncheon. We welcomed former principals, Sr. Helen Ebbitt, Sr. Madeline Moore and Mrs. Anne Schaefer as well as Sr. Patrice Ward, our former Assistant Principal. It was a wondeful afternoon filled with the fun, warmth and friendship of our school community.
