SCOPE AND SEQUENCE FOR TECHNO-SKILLS
GRADES 5-8

Grade 5
-Students will master the History of Computers.
-Students will master internet usage and navigation (Acceptable Use Policy in Place)
-Students will master Microsoft Word Processing (tool bar, spell check, print preview, word art, wrap-around text, formatting text, copy, pasting, editing text, inserting graphics, resizing graphics, etc.)

Grades 6, 7, & 8
-Students will continue to master internet usage and navigation (Acceptable Use Policy in Place) and Microsoft Word Processing
-Students will master:
-Presentation software (Microsoft Power Point)
-Creating and opening a saved presentation
-Adding background text, sound, graphics, bulleted lists, custom animation
-The creation of multiple slides
-Importing pictures from the internet
-Slide transition
-Saving their presentation, etc.

All Work in grades 5-8 is age-appropriate and coordinated with subject-matter curriculum (SS, LA, science, math, etc.)

KEYBOARDING IS ALSO PRACTICED TO OBTAIN SPEED, BUT ONLY WHEN CLASSWORK IS COMPLETED SINCE GRADES 5-8 RECEIVE A TECHNOLOGY GRADE.

Grades K-4

Introduce the following:

K-Introduce desktop, recognize icons on desktop, exit a program, parts of a computer, turn computer on and off, and hand-eye coordination (i.e.: Arthur’s Reading Program, Franklin’s Activity Center).

1- Reinforce desktop identification; reinforce icons on desktop, exit a program, parts of a computer, turn computer on and off, and hand-eye coordination.
Enter text, print key, and identify a program and open and close it (i.e: Franklin’s Activity Center).

2- Reinforce desktop identification; Reinforce icons on desktop, exit a program, parts of a computer, turn computer on and off, and hand-eye coordination. Enter text, print key, and identify a program and open and close it. Introduce keyboarding, home row, space bar, enter, and shift (i.e.: Type To Learn, Word Munchers).

3- Masters desktop identification; Master icons on desktop, exit a program, parts of a computer, turn computer on and off, and hand-eye coordination. Enter text, print key, and identify a program and open and close it. Reinforce keyboarding, home row, space bar, enter, and shift. Master word processing at the age appropriate level (i.e.: Creative Writer, Word Munchers, Magic School Bus programs).

4- Master word processing at the age appropriate level, reinforce keyboarding, home row, space bar, enter, and shift, typing flow. Open and exit programs, after identifying the program. Reinforce keyboarding, Introduce research work (i.e.: Creative Writer, Internet,).
